US could bring hate charge in Fla. teen shooting

MIAMI AP — The U.S. Justice Department could bring a hate crime charge against the shooter in the killing of black Florida teenager Trayvon Martin if there is sufficient evidence the slaying was motivated by racial bias and not simply a fight that spiraled out of control, legal experts and former prosecutors say.

Witness counters Trayvon Martin media narrative

Maybe George Zimmerman did act in self-defense when he shot and killed Trayvon Martin, whose death Feb. 26 in Sanford, Florida, has been the focus of a media and political circus that even included Barack Obama weighing in this week.

An eyewitness to the incident told police Martin was beating Zimmerman before he shot him.

Have to say, I was particularly disappointed in FoxNews last week. Generally Fox is my first choice in news, and I always expect better from them; when Sheppard Smith reported the story, he assumed George Zimmerman’s guilt and repeatedly referred to Trayvon Martin as a “little boy.”

While the death of Trayvon Martin was certainly a tragedy, Trayvon was an adolescent young man – not a little boy. And Zimmerman deserves the presumption of innocence until all the facts are known.

Dear Media Folks: As long as you represent yourselves to be purveyors of news, can we please have more facts and less of your personal  biased agendas and opinions?
